This custom porch roof which I built for my son's South Hill home, was built out of Douglas Fir lumber and a custom metal work to integrate with the existing door arch.

Time consuming but satisfying applying rough sawn boards to the shop. Patty applied some color to the project.

My son Jesse Ediger and my wife Patty, not in the pictures since she was taking them, were a big help in getting the paper tacked on the roof. Not a one person job and a little hair raising at times.

It's been awhile since I posted my progress on the shop. I have been working on it non stop for the last 2 months. Weather has been good just a little hot. As soon as I get all the overhangs sheared I can paper it all and get it weather proofed. The roof over the man door was fun. This is the first time I have worked so extensively with rough timbers.

We built the trusses ourselves out of milled Fir. The day we were assembling, July 4th, rain poured down in torrents upon the slab where we were working. We built 7 trusses with the help of family and lifted them into place with a rented Genie fork lift. I did most of the framing myself with some hired help during the hottest days of the summer. Got the last of the rafters up today in 95 degree heat. Looking forward to putting on the sheeting and getting some much needed shade.
